SAVING DOGS, TRAINING DOGS, SAVING WARRIORS
Saving Dogs-Saving Warriors: Man’s best friend can indeed be man’s best medicine. For centuries the military has trained canines to perform a multitude of task on the battlefield. It has only been in more recent history that we’ve seen the benefits of using canines to assist and save warriors after the battles. Knowing over 3,000 canines a day are euthanized in this country, and over 22 veterans a day are committing suicide, One Warrior Won saw a unique opportunity to help lower both those numbers. By selecting well vetted dogs from high kill shelters and putting them into an extensive PTSd Service Dog program, it allows us to save the dog, train the dog and in turn save the warrior. Introducing a PTSd Service Dog into the life of a warrior not only vastly improves their life, but also those that they interact with on a daily basis.
It is important to note that of this date the Veterans Administration, or any other government entity, does not recognize the medicinal value of PTSd Service Dogs and therefore provides no funding for warriors to obtain a Service Dog.
